These include turning, boring, and grinding as well as delicate inspection procedures. Gripping pressures can range from just a few pounds, for use on a fragile thin-walled component, to several thousand pounds for more aggressive machining. Their ability to hold component diameters with geometric errors such as ‘taper’ and ‘out of round’ make them far superior to conventional jaw type chucks.
